Assembly Elections 2022 of Uttar
Pradesh State have been indicating from the first phase in Wester part of the
State that people are going to vote against BJP which got a massive victory in
2017 Elections under bluffs of Union Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After
victory, Modi imposed Adityanath (so called Yogi) as Chief Minister of U.P.
During his tenure in UP in the last five years, Yogi kept himself busy in three
things -
1. Harming and killing Muslims
in the State to establish in UP a Hindu kingdom without any democratic norm.
Courts of the country have been very critical of this government but with no
effect on Yogi. Muslims were never respected citizens of the country during
this tenure. Though it is well known that in-spite of low education and general
poverty, Muslims help in running homes and industries through their technical
skills.
2. Without doing any
development work in the State, Yogi concentrated promoting Hindu religious
traditions like annual Kaanvad Yaatraas, prayers to rivers like Ganges, construction
of massive temples etc for bringing in a religious fervor in people of the
state. With respect to development, an example is worth notice. A flyover was
constructed by the government in Varanasi that collapsed during final stage of
construction. Yogi government filed an FIR against an unknown contractor for
the collapse.
The religious bent of mind
could have worked on the minds of people but for their own economic miseries
brought in by the Central Government of Modi through creating massive unemployment
and spirally rising prices. When survival of the self and the family is at
stake, no religious fervor comes in the minds of people.
Only one community of traders,
called Vaishya, has been an exception due to their low level money-oriented
lives. Lowly educated and busy in their shops have no time or intellect to
think of the Society and the Nation. Except the intellectuals in the community,
everyone is a Muslim hater, hence like Modi and Yogi governments. But
unfortunately for BJP, the community members keep so busy that many find no
time even for voting.
3. Yogi is a so-called hermit
coming from traditionally arrogant community, called Kshatriya or Thakur. As a
hermit, he has no idea of how families survive hence has no business in politics
seeking political power over people. As an arrogant and autocrat, he outshined
by his statements and actions against common people, with utmost care for
promoting his own community of Thakurs.
Community of Brahmans has been
the dominating community in Hinduism since pronouncement of Sanatan Dharm in
the country by Asur junta during Vedic period. This community got angered by
actions of Yogi for domination of Thakur community.
4. Farmers agitated against Modi
government for about 15 months staying on Delhi borders for repeal of 3 laws on
farming enacted by Modi government. In these protests, Modi government did
every possible harassment, including water sprays during winter season, embedding
steel nails on the roads around the protest sites, etc, of protesting farmers.
In this process, over 700 farmers lost their lives but no ruling person ever
felt accountability with regular pronouncements of keeping and implementing the
farm laws. Elections arrived when the selfish Modi government repealed the 3
farm laws. This experience of farmers has its dark shadow over elections in
five states including those in UP. This way, Yogi reaped the thorns sowed by
Modi. Farmers and their sympathisers, in general, oppose BJP.
5. Another important issue related
to farming raising its head in the elections has been of stray cattle in the
state damaging crops in agricultural field on which farmers survive. This problem
has been a creation of Yogi in the name of saving cows in the state. It was
Yogi government that imposed a ban on transporting and selling cow breeds.
Since the breeds lost their marketability, farmers stopped keeping cow breeds
compounding problem of stray cattle.
Before Yogi government, some cows
were kept by farmers under their care, some were kept by milk producers, while
others used to be slaughtered for flesh mainly for exports. Incidentally, flesh
export in the country is dominated by BJP supporters. Cow slaughter was banned
in the country for a long-long time for religious sentiments of people.
Under these background shadows,
UP State Assembly elections arrived with two principal political parties/alignments
against BJP – Indian National Congress under Priyanka Gandhi in the state and
Samajwadi Party-Lokdal alignment under Akhilesh Yadav.
After 1975, with Indira Gandhi as
the Prime Minister, Congress contracted itself to be a family party instead of
people of the nation that it has been during freedom struggle and also under
Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. Priyanka Gandhi is the
aspirant for Chief Minister of UP, her brother Rahul Gandhi is the Congress
candidate for the next Prime Ministers position, while thei mother is the
Congress President. Though at the national level, Congress is the only party to
replace BJP, the state politics runs differently. With domination of caste
factor in the State of UP, Akhilesh Yadav came up as the most important power
player against Yogi with support from Muslims.
Since BJP has nothing to show
positive for the people with so many negativities, it injected huge capital and
workforce in the state to win votes through purchases and making a grand show
by paid agents of BJP mainly from RSS. It seems that vote-purchase strategy of
BJP is not very effective for silence of such voters in the face of extrovertly
spirited voters in the opposition.
This election in UP is not only that of the state, but is going to determine the future of Modi during Parliamentary Elections in 2024. Hence, bad days of India are close to the ends.
